2) Alluding
to Illusion (First taught at Quilt Expo Europa III)
I have been doing a series of quilts based on a recolouring of
the spools block (Taking The Liberty With Rainbows I - III, Red,
Hot in Nepal, East West - Orient Expressed ) and researching optical
effects generally. This is a worksheet based design class.
i) discovering the
principles that cause optical effects
ii) developing optical
effects in traditional blocks
iii) designing your
own blocks
iv) with reference
to how other artists tackle illusion (e.g. Escher, Riley, Vaserely,
quilters)
